SIGEH PENGUTEN
Sigeh Penguten
originated from the area of Lampung is one complementary ritual dance. This
dance have function as an opening dance, a welcome, and thank you from the host
to the guest who attended the event were collected.
Sigeh Penguten is a dance group whose dancers daughter
odd number (5,7,9 and so on).
Characteristic of
this dance is not found in other traditional dances that exist in the area of
Lampung is the slap. Slap is golden color box carried by one dancers who are
located at the front.
HISTORY OF SIGEH PENGUTEN
Sigeh Penguten have different versions about origins.
Hilman Hadikusuma in book called people and customs Lampung said that this
dance is influnced by dance Sriwijaya who came from South Sumatra.
Sumatra South used to be a place of establishment of a
kingdom that is Sriwijaya.
Slap(tepak) dance is said that dance is the families
of prince Muhammad Ali, Presentation of dance is held at the traditional
marriage ceremony, the appointment of a Pesirah, and welcoming guests.
Slap dance became known as Tari Sembah (Sigeh
Penguten).
Prior to the standardization, presentation of dance
was not so reveals regional characteristics Lampung.
Another agreement reached is the costume that suits
white brackets. Tapis as one of the characteristics of Lampung.
The main property used is Sigeh(betel) Penguten(slap)
this show that the culture among the people of Lampung very thick.
